Hyper pigmentation is a disorder of the skin color with distinctive dark areas due to the increased amounts of melanin, the dark pigment of the skin.
Exposure to sunlight, pregnancy, certain diseases, age or trauma can lead to disruption of melanin and creation of dark spots common for this benign disorder.
The exact causes may be divided into two groups, Internal and External.
External causes are the ones that come from the environment, such as exposure to sunlight or due to chemical compounds (betaxolol, minocycline, estrogen, progesterone, etc.).
Internal causes refer to the genetic information- people with darker skin are more prone to develop this disorder.
The freckles, the aging spots and the sun spots are caused by the harmful ultraviolet rays that damage the melanin which result in temporary or permanent discoloration. Often these spots can be seen on the face and hands, also may occur on any area of the skin that has been exposed to the sun.
The scars from trauma or surgery can also cause discoloration of the skin, even if the problem has been solved, the stains remain.
Melasma is a hyper pigmentation of the skin that occurs during pregnancy, although it can sometimes engulf men. This disorder usually goes away by itself after pregnancy without causing major problems.
Recipe for the natural cure for hyper pigmentation:
- Take 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- Add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
- Mix good
- Apply on the affected areas
- Leave it for 15 minutes to dry
- Wash it with lukewarm water
Do not expose the affected areas to the sun for at least 8-10 hours!
Repeat once every day, or if possible (winter) twice daily.
Experience says that this simple remedy is really effective: the lemon has whitening properties, and encourages skin peeling, and the turmeric, despite its whitening effect, has anti-inflammatory property and makes the skin shinier.
People with more sensitive skin may weaken the lemon with water or milk.
